In Memoriam of Michael Eastham

Dad We will remember his smile and infectious laugh Every time we see him in a photograph Playing on the keyboard or on the guitar Singing at the cavern, he was our Star Our Dad (couldn’t cook) was never Mr DIY But he was around for us, if we were to cry And when we were sick he would always be there To mop our brow or stroke our hair There was always a funny tale when Dad came home Him driving the taxis with mum on the phone Fixing the radios and keeping his business afloat Gave him the money to buy a narrowboat There was music and laughter in our childhood Dancing and singing he made our life good And when we were young he showed us how to Jive Then at 17 he taught us both to drive Before Dad died he wasn’t the same He was 70 years old and still searching for fame He believed he was a star amongst the cast Of a Blockbuster movie about the past We hoped they would find the cause of this change Of the weird sightings and the acting strange He believed there were robots and ghosts in his home There were gatherings of people and by night they would roam He is finally at peace and no longer tormented By Lewy Body who left him demented And that is why we mustn’t be sad You’re free at last we love you Dad! We were at your bedside right up to the end Husband, Dad, Grandad and Best Friend So Goodnight Dad, its time for a rest Sing with those Angels its what you do best!
