A huge THANK YOU to the amazing Vicky and her friend Alison who completed the Exeter half marathon on three legs, dressed as Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum. Through this amazing feat they raised more than £15,500 for The Lewy Body Society.
Vicky has chosen to support The Lewy Body Society as her husband Peter was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2018.
Explaining why she supports our efforts to fund research, Vicky said:
“I firmly believe research, targeted specifically at Lewy body disease, is the only way we can make real inroads into treatment and eventual cure of this most devastating form of dementia.
In my three legged half marathon, I aimed to raise funds for new research in the use of scanners to better understand the hallucinations experienced by so many with LBD.
However, I feel this is merely the tip of the iceberg. Ultimately, we need to discover why the protein clumps mass in the brain. Research may not be able to help those already suffering with this disease, but let us hope it can be a light in a very dark tunnel.”
Vicky has further exciting plans to raise awareness of Lewy body dementia and support our research programme. Watch this space…
