John Anthony “Tony” Gallegos passed away peacefully in his bed on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 7:15 am. Preceded in death are his mother Margarita, his father David Gallegos and his siblings; he is also preceded in death by his children Nina, Patricia, and John Jr. Survived in death are his wife, Janie, his son Danny, wife Michelle and their 6 children, his son Jesse, his daughter Andrea and husband David Little, his daughter Christie Renee, husband Chayne Crossley and their children John 4th, Avante, and Chaynena. He is also survived by many grand and great-grandchildren. Tony referred to himself as, “jack of all trades and master of none”… cooking, music, art, mechanics, carpentry, the list goes on. One of his passions was music. An avid singer, he also played the bass guitar and dabbled in the accordion. In his younger years, he was in a country and western band called the Texas Sidewinders. Later he became a familiar face in the church choir and gave many solo performances. Another passion was food. Tony started his career as a sous chef at the famed Shamrock Hilton. From there he went on cooking for a living. No one will be able to replicate his Thanksgiving dressing. He was a fierce friend and never met a “stranger”. He was most happy when he was helping others whether it be feeding the homeless, fixing someone’s car or doing home repairs to name a few. Most importantly, Tony was a man of God. He raised his children in church and instilled the belief in the power of prayer, the need for faith and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. “Father, … not my will, but thy will, be done.” Luke 22:42 In lieu of flowers, donations to the family can be made to help offset the cost of expenses.
